The Library of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Calicut, serves as an integral part of the school’s academic and co-curricular framework. Established to cultivate a lifelong love for reading and to support the intellectual growth of our students, the library offers a well-curated collection of resources in both print and digital formats.
Our collection comprises a wide range of books, including fiction, non-fiction, reference materials, biographies, periodicals, and newspapers in English, Hindi, and regional languages. The library is fully automated with the e-Garnthalay Version 4 software, enabling efficient cataloguing, circulation, and easy access to our holdings through an online public access catalogue (OPAC).
In addition to serving as a repository of knowledge, the library is a hub for literary and reading promotion activities. Regular programmes such as book exhibitions, reading challenges, storytelling sessions, and literary competitions are conducted to foster creativity and enhance language skills. Our unique best practice of designing cover pages for damaged books not only promotes book care but also nurtures the artistic talent of students.
The library provides a comfortable reading environment and follows structured lending procedures to ensure equitable access to all. It remains open during school hours to cater to the needs of students and staff.
By providing diverse learning resources and promoting reading culture, the library plays a pivotal role in supporting the school’s mission of holistic education.
